With more than 30 years of industry experience, Mr. Williams retired from his career as a museum director and educator in 2005. Prior to this appointment, he held the position of museum curator for Shaftsbury Historical Society from 1989 to 2005 and the founder and director of the NORRAD Drug Rehabilitation Center in San Francisco, CA, from 1986 to 1988. Previously, he served as a teacher at San Francisco State University from 1976 to 1979 and columnist for Bennington Banner from 1972 to 1977. Mr. Williams began his career as an adult education teacher at Mount Anthony Union High School from 1972 to 1974.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Williams pursued an education at the University of Vermont, earning Bachelor of Science in education in 1970. Following these accomplishments, he became the founder and director of the Bennington Tutorial Center from 1971 to 1974. Mr. Williams concluded his studies at San Francisco State University in 1981, graduating with a Master of Arts in interdisciplinary social science.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Mr. Williams found success with his creative works, having authored "Toward Humanness in Education" in 1981, "Chalice of Leaves: Selected Essays and Poems" in 1988, "Modern Salvation: Guidelines from Cosmology" in 1994, and "Superstring Displacement as a Common Factor in Gravity, Electromagnetic Radiation and Molecular Adhesion" in 2004. Likewise, he penned "Consolations on Seeing the Robin Go" in 2010, "Pathways to Natural Peace" in 2014, and "The Vermont Trilogy" in 2014. Writing the film "The Last Execution" in 2012, Mr. Williams has co-authored "Intimacy" in 1985 and continues to write essays for esteemed publications to this day.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Williams has accrued several accolades and honors throughout his impressive career. He was presented with the Edmunds Essay Medal from the Vermont Historical Society in 1961, an Award from the League of Vermont Writers in 1972, and Golden Poet Award from the World of Poetry in Sacramento, CA in 1990. Mr. Williams was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World.
