Ms. Conrad was listed in 14 volumes of Art in America.
HOUSTON, TX, June 26, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Nancy R. Conrad is a distinguished biographee of Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are chosen from among a pool of the most prominent professionals and are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A widely regarded artist with studios in Houston and Montana, Ms. Conrad is noted for her use of light and space to convey a sense of silence and solitude. Her work often features water and sky as metaphors for her life. While the reflection is meant to represent how people are affected by the world and how they are perceived, the substance of the water displays who they are and the stream bed shows their history. Ms. Conrad draws inspiration from the ways in which all of these elements are constantly changing and affecting the others. She especially loves the sky and its many aspects: brooding, uplifting, always in motion and never the same. By utilizing these elements of water and sky, coupled with the illusion of space, Ms. Conrad hopes to invoke a contemplative, reflective moment for the viewer.
Ms. Conrad began honing her skills in artistic expression at an early age. In the second grade, she was selected to receive a full scholarship to the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, which led her to focus on this area of study until high school. Ms. Conrad went on to attend Randolph College, where she completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and Bachelor of Fine Arts in art history. While completing formal education, Ms. Conrad concentrated on Oriental art, specializing in the work of Japanese artists. She appreciates their ability to create visual silence and raise it to a spiritual level, which has had a profound influence on her own work as an artist.
Since the inception of her career, Ms. Conrad has held a variety of positions related to her profession, including as a volunteer art consultant with the Spring Branch Independent School District. She is also a widely regarded educator who has served as an art teacher with the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston and Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston. Between 2003 and 2004, she was recognized as a digital photography workshop instructor and oil painting workshop instructor with the Mountain Brook School Historical Foundation. Ms. Conrad continues to share her knowledge and expertise as a private art studio teacher.
In recognition of her contributions to the world of fine arts, Ms. Conrad was listed in 14 volumes of Art in America. She has also been featured in the Jacobson's Directory of American Artists and named a recipient of the Foley First Place Award at Dimension Houston V. Most recently, Ms. Conrad was recognized by Marquis Who's Who Top Artists for her dedication, achievements and leadership in fine arts.
