Mr. Bünger is a tenured attorney who recently formed his own private practice in 2018 after dedicating nearly 50 years to the field. Representing clients in matters of litigation and workers compensation in Burlington, IA, he formerly served as a senior partner and partner at Crowley, Bunger & Prill for a total of 24 years and as a partner at Kurth & Bunger for another 22 years, beginning in 1969.
One of the highlights of Mr. Bünger's career was while working at the Crowley firm during the 1990s. He and his partner had acquired verdicts one year apart that were in excess of $1 million, which was a lot of money at that time. Ironically, one came on the anniversary of his father's birth and the other on the anniversary of his father's death. In 1998, Mr. Bünger was the recipient of a Public Justice Award from the Iowa Trial Lawyers Association and has since become an AV-Preeminent Attorney through Martindale-Hubbell in 2015.
Earning a Bachelor of Arts in history and business at Wartburg College and a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Iowa, Mr. Bünger recently served as the president of the Bart Howard Foundation, Inc., from 2013 to 2018. He has also served as a member and president of his local church council, served on the board of directors and as president, honorary member and board member of the I Club at the University of Iowa, as an honorary letterman of the Varsity Club Member I Club at the University of Iowa, and as secretary for the board of directors for the Burlington Baseball Association. Contributing a chapter to a book in his area of expertise, Mr. Bünger enjoys playing golf, painting and reading in his free time.
