Ms. Engstrom has held several FCC broadband licenses and was involved with the development of the industry starting in 1972. She was sole member of four broadband LLCs starting in 1993. She was a senior management consultant in the business for over 40 years. Ms. Engstrom is also a talented artist who spent a number of years in education teaching workshops for various organizations such as the University of Evora in Portugal, the University of Kansas, College of the Atlantic in ME, Fairfax County Adult Education in VA, and the Palos Verdes Art Center in CA. She also served her local communities as president of the Parent Teacher Association at Hermosa View Elementary School in CA, and volunteered at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. including serving as keeper aide at the National Zoological Park.
Ms. Engstrom has created numerous drawings, paintings and sculptures in recent years in various media such as watercolor, pastel dust, Prismacolor pencil, and clay. She provided cover art for the 1988 "International Studbook, Cheetah, Acinonyx jubatus." She created the masthead for the "International Wildlife Rancher" as well as providing art and writing an article for the periodical. She self-published her art and writing on a series of endangered species note cards from 1986 to 1990. She has been featured in multiple juried group shows with the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators (GNSI) in and around Washington, DC, and for the Palos Verdes Art Center in CA where she received an Artists' Open Group People's Choice Award in 2000. She had a solo show at The Distinctive Edge Gallery in 2001. A long-time member of GNSI, she contributed art and writing to their newsletter, and served as president of the southern California chapter. She also served as president of the Artists Open Group at the Palos Verdes Art Center. Furthermore, Ms. Engstrom plans to publish several manuscripts she has written including an illustrated fantasy poetry book and an interactive self-help book she and her sister co-wrote and illustrated.
Ms. Engstrom studied at the University of California at Los Angeles, the University of Maryland, and the U. S. Department of Agriculture Graduate School. Highlighted in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women, she is the proud mother of two children.
