A respected voice in the finance industry, she has served as the president and marketing researcher with Francena Purchase Consultant Services since 2006.
Early in her career, Ms. Purchase-Owens received an Associate of Arts, cum laude, from Bryant & Stratton College in 1982, served as a commencement speaker and was honored with Student Spotlight recognition. She went on to complete postgraduate education at Cardinal Stritch College, Mount Mary College, University of Wisconsin and Grand Valley State University. As a graduate student she served on Western Michigan University's Advisory Committee where she was again honored with Student Spotlight recognition. During her continued studies, Ms. Purchase-Owens held various administrative and clerical positions with American Seating, Georgia State University and M&I Bank. She also gained experience as a consultant with the United Development Corporation, salesperson with Weathermaster Industries, and customer service representative with the Kent County Convention and Visitors Bureau. She was also executive secretary of corporate development and healthcare for Manpower, Inc., secretary of the marketing and credit department for Michigan National Bank, and served Grand Rapids Public Schools as a paraprofessional and member of the Paraprofessional Association, which honored her with a Letter of Recognition. Furthermore, she was co-chair of the Investment Council for United Way, co-chair of the Investment Council for Touchstone Innovare, and a Board Member of the Finance, Program, Human Services, Nominating, Ad Hoc, and Cherry Street Health Services Committees. Ms. Purchase-Owens is also involved with Cherry Health as a member of its Consumer Advisory and Finance Committees. She is secretary-elect of the Southeast End Neighborhood Association, President of the Business Office Education Club, and speaker at First Missionary Baptist Church and Rotary International.
Since the turn of the century, Ms. Purchase-Owens has completed postgraduate coursework through Northcentral University, Florida International University, Capella University and the University of Phoenix. She also attended Western Michigan University, where she completed a Bachelor of Science in applied liberal studies in 1997 and master's degree in educational leadership in 2004. Ms. Purchase-Owens has completed certifications through the National Institutes of Health Office of Extramural Research, Michigan Board of Education and Michigan Department of Education. In recognition of her contributions to the marketing industry, Ms. Purchase-Owens was featured in the Grand Rapids Business Journal and a Special Edition of the Grand Rapids Press. She has also been featured in a wide range of honors publications including Who's Who in America, Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the World.
