As a child, Dr. McIntosh was often around animals having been involved in multiple FFA and 4-H programs, including rodeo. He began his career as an assistant county agricultural agent after obtaining a Bachelor of Science in animal science. He then went back to school to pursue a Bachelor of Science and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, and later opened Park North Animal Hospital. Today, Dr. McIntosh serves as the owner and operator of El Dorado Animal Hospital.
In addition to his work with the animal hospital, Dr. McIntosh has also served at various institutions and organizations as a consultant, teacher, board member, and most notably, chairman and founding member of the Veterinary Technology Advisory Council for Palo Alto College. He is also proud to have taught animal health technology courses at San Antonio College for 11 years. He has shared his professional expertise as a contributing author to various books, articles, and professional journals. Always a dedicated veterinarian, Dr. McIntosh was also in the U.S. Air Force Veterinary Corps from 1968 to 1970.
As a testament to his talent and accomplishments, Dr. McIntosh has received many awards and honors, including the Outstanding Business Partners Award, the Lynn Anderson Outstanding Service Award, and the Alumnus Award from the Guadalupe County 4-H Club. He attributes his many successes to his continued love of learning and teaching. In order to stay active and engaged in his industry, he maintains affiliation with the San Antonio Chapter of the Delta Society, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Texas Veterinary Medical Association, the Texas Academy of Veterinary Practice, the Comal County Veterinary Medical Association, and the Veterinary Medical Association of Bexar County.
Today, when he is not operating his animal hospital, Dr. McIntosh spends his spare time tending to his small farm and raising cattle. Looking toward the future, he plans to continue working and contributing to his industry.
