Prior to these appointments, he held several positions at Case Western Reserve University, including assistant clinical professor in the Department of Reproductive Biology in 1971, assistant professor in 1970, and instructor in obstetrics and gynecology from 1967 to 1970. Previously, he was the chief resident at Harlem Hospital with Columbia University in 1967. Dr. Awais began his career at the University-Affiliated Hospitals with the University of Toronto as chief resident in 1965, resident in obstetrics and gynecology from 1961 to 1964, and as an intern from 1960 to 1961.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Awais pursued an education at Hope College, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1955. He concluded his studies at the University of Toronto in 1960, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Awais is a diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Beyond his responsibilities within the field, Dr. Awais has participated in numerous endeavors in his professional circles. For more than 15 years, he has contributed to a Christian Hospital in Jordan run by native nuns. Likewise, he served as a consulting panel member for the International Correspondence Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in 1971, the chair of the Department of Obstetrics-Gynecology in the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre from 1975 to 1976, and the president of the Task Force on Humanitarian Aid and Relief Inc. in 1997. Dr. Awais found success with his creative works as well, having penned articles to publications in his industry, presented reports to conferences, and appeared on television programs in Saudi Arabia.
In addition to his primary trade, Dr. Awais remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He has been a member of the American Medical Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the National Infertility Association, and the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland & Northern Ohio. Furthermore, Dr. Awais has maintained involvement with the National Arab American Medical Association as chair for humanities relief in 1996 and as president since 1991.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Awais has accrued several accolades and honors throughout his impressive career.
