With more than 40 years of industry experience to his credit, Dr. Song has worked as senior research engineer, project leader, and post-doctoral research advisor for the National Institute of Standards and Technology since 1987. During this time, he has held the position of post-doctoral research advisor for the National Research Council with the National Academy of Sciences since 1997. Dr. Song began his career as the senior engineer at Changcheng Institute of Metrology & Measurement before 1987.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Song pursued an education at Harbin Institute of Technology, earning a Master of Science in 1981. He was awarded a Ph.D. at the University of Warwick in 2017 for his contributions and publications at the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Following these accomplishments, he became an inventor in his field, innovating engineering standards as a result. Dr. Song has found success with his written works as well, having contributed more than 150 articles to such esteemed publications as "Metrologia" and "Forensic Science International," among others.
In addition to his primary trade, Dr. Song remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He has been a member of the American Society for Precision Engineering, and the International Committee on Measurements and Instrumentation, Dr. Song has maintained involvement with the Hardness Working Group for the Consultative Committee for Mass and Related Quantities in the International Committee for Weights and Measures and the SC 3 Committee on the Technical Committee 164 for the International Organization for Standardization. He is a member of the Vivian Kwok Seasharp Music Club, and a ski instructor at the Whitehall ski resort.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Song has accrued several accolades throughout his impressive career. He was presented with multiple honors from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, including the Judson C. French Award in 2002, the E. B. Rosa Award in 1996, and the Bronze Medal Award in 1994. Dr. Song has been selected for inclusion in many editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.
