Mr. Martin is a retired surveillance agent with the Boyd Group, California Hotel, in Las Vegas. Hired as a security officer in 1991, he later worked in surveillance for the organization between 1998 and 2000. His previous work includes serving as a security screener at the McCarran Airport in Paradise, NV.
A career that stemmed from his service in the military, Mr. Martin was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force for four years beginning in 1964. Involved in a very serious incident that ended the Cuban Missile Crisis, he was one of many that were headed to Russia on an attack. Responsible for keeping communication lines open while working to destroy the Cuban communication hotline, he was ultimately responsible for saving more than 100 million people. He also provided top secret presidential security to President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964 and was a security police supervisor while serving in the Air Force in 1968. Notably, Mr. Martin was honorably discharged from the military.
The author of "Atlantis Secrets Revealed" in 1994, Mr. Martin also enjoys writing and publishing various works. He authored "Hilltop Country Songbook" in 1997, wrote several songs, including "Western Song" and "Your Song of Love," and has contributed to "The Best Poems of 1995," "The Best Songs of 1997" and "The Best Poems of the 90s."
A member of the International Society of Poets, where he was honored with an Editor's Choice Award for Poetry, Mr. Martin is also active with the American Legion and Shriners and has been a member and longtime Scottish Rite president of Masons since 1973. Named to the International Poetry Hall of Fame in 1996, he also received several Educational Awards from the U.S. Air Force between 1964 and 1965, including the highest Air Force Security Educational Achievement Award.
Born in Akron, OH, Mr. Martin later earned his high school diploma in 1958, followed by a Universal Schools Hotel/Motel Diploma in Miami, FL, in 1969. In addition to writing poetry, songs and books, Mr. Martin enjoys traveling and taking photography in his down time. He has been cited in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in in the West and Who's Who in the World.
