Most recently, he was the head structural engineer for Permasteelisa North America in Miami, FL, for 11 years beginning in 1999. He also served as the chief engineer for Flour City Architectural Metals in Glen Cove, NY, from 1987 to 1999 and was a senior engineer for the firm from 1984 to 1987.
Born in the Philippines, Mr. Casem attended FEATI University in Manila, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering in 1967. Graduating cum laude, he was offered a scholarship to travel overseas to complete a master's degree in Thailand. Earning a Master of Engineering major in structural engineering and mechanics at the Asian Institute of Technology in Bangkok in 1970, he returned to his home country to begin his career as a civil engineer with Philippine Engineering and Construction Corporation in Rizal in 1970. Three years later, he traveled to Singapore to work as a structural engineer with Morrison Knudsen International Company from 1973 to 1975 before becoming a design engineer at Monenco Ltd. from 1975 to 1978. Relocating again to Canada in 1978, he accepted a position as a senior engineer at Montreal Engineering Company, where he remained until 1983 before immigrating to the United States.
Mr. Casem is currently a licensed professional engineer in New York, New Jersey and Washington, DC, and a lifetime member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Most of his work has included structural engineering services to the exterior wall systems of various buildings, including Terminals 1 and 5 at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, IL, Key Tower in Cleveland, OH, the US Bank Tower in Los Angeles, CA, and the Time Warner Center in New York City. Notably, Mr. Casem has been cited in several editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in Science and Engineering. Married to Corazon Nieveras Noble since May 1972, Mr. Casem has two children. He enjoys golf, tennis and bowling in his free time.
