With 20 years of experience, Dr. Beros has worked as a head and neck surgeon for Scripps Clinic Medical Group since 2003. Prior to this appointment, he served as a resident and chief resident with UC San Diego from 1998 to 2003. During his time at UCSD, Dr. Beros was awarded a one year NIH-sponsored research fellowship focusing on neural pathfinding in the inner ear. Dr. Beros began his postgraduate career as an intern in general surgery at The Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara from 1997 to 1998.
Before embarking on his professional path, Dr. Beros pursued an education at the University of California, Berkeley, completing Bachelor's coursework with honors in economics. He subsequently attended medical school at the University of California, San Diego, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine in 1997. Dr. Beros followed these accomplishments with board certification in Otolaryngology from the American Board of Otolaryngology in 2004, successfully renewed in 2012.
Beyond his responsibilities within his field, Dr. Beros has participated in numerous endeavors in his professional circles. He cofounded a student-run free health clinic for the homeless at UC San Diego and he contributes to the training of general surgeons in Head and Neck Surgery for the U.S. Navy. He has developed an innovative technique for minimally-invasive treatment of surfer's ear (exostoses) and is a past consulting physician for the San Diego Padres baseball team. Additionally, Dr. Beros specializes in thyroid and parathyroid surgery. An invited presenter in his field, Dr. Beros found success with his written works as well, having coauthored many articles to top medical science publications in addition to pursuing ongoing research.
Dr. Beros remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He has maintained involvement with the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Likewise, Dr. Beros is a member of the San Diego County Medical Society, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Beros has accrued several accolades and honors throughout his impressive career. He has been presented with a Teaching Award for his work with junior residents and a Travel Award for his research. In 2010 he received the Thornburg Award for outstanding research in surgery from the Scripps Foundation. Additionally, Dr. Beros has been recognized as a Grantee of the National Institutes of Health, as well as a San Diego Top Doctor in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
