With 40 years of industry experience to her credit, Ms. Meadows is currently retired, having most recently worked as the director of the State Law Library of Montana from 1984 to 2013. Prior to this appointment, she held the position of director for the Fairfax Public Law Library from 1981 to 1984. Ms. Meadows began her career as a law librarian for Aspen Systems from 1978 to 1981.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Meadows pursued an education at Muskingum University, completing coursework in 1965. She continued her academic efforts with a Bachelor of Arts at American University in 1967. Following these accomplishments, she obtained a Certificate in Legal Studies from the University of Maryland in 1977. Ms. Meadows concluded her studies at the University of Maryland in 1979, graduating with a Master of Library Sciences.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Meadows has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She has held the roles of project coordinator for the Dependency and Neglect Working Group since 2013, volunteer for the Montana Legal Services Association since 2013, member of Montana Commission of Continuing Legal Education since 2006, acting public information officer for the Montana Supreme Court from 2011 to 2013, and the chair of the Commission on Self-Represented Litigants for Montana Supreme Court from 2004 to 2013. She also served on the Montana Equal Justice Task Force from 2000 to 2012. Ms. Meadows has consulted for many court, state and country libraries, as well as having worked with the National Center for State Courts.
She has been appointed to the board of directors for Helena Presents and the Myrna Loy Center from 1986 to 1992, the Holter Museum of Art from 1995 to 2002, the Helena Education Foundation, for which she was vice president in 2003 and president from 2005 to 2006, and the Montana Supreme Court Commission on Technology. Ms. Meadows found success with her written works as well, having authored chapters for "From Yellow Pads to Computers" in 1991, "Law Librarianship" in 1994, "Encyclopedia of Library and Information Science" in 2009, and myriad articles for esteemed journals.
In addition to her primary trade, Ms. Meadows remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She has maintained involvement with the American Association of Law Libraries in multiple capacities, including as treasurer from 1992 to 1995, vice president since 1996, president from 1997 to 1998, past president from 1978 to 2009, and chair of the leadership development committee from 2008 to 2009. She was also active with the Northwest Consortium of Law Libraries as president from 1984 to 1991 and the Montana Library Association as secretary from 1986 to 1988. Ms. Meadows served on accrediting committees for the American Library Association from 2000 to 2006.
In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Meadows has accrued several accolades throughout her impressive career. She has been presented with a Distinguished Service Award from the State Bar of Montana in 1991 and 2012, a Pro Bono PUBLICO Award in 2002, and both the Marian Gould Gallagher Award and the Bethany J. Ochal Award for Distinguished Service to the Profession from the American Association of Law Libraries in 2013. Ms. Meadows was selected for inclusion in many editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
