Dr. Jon B. Kayne is a professor of clinical counseling and psychology at Bellevue University in Nebraska.

A professor of clinical counseling and psychology at Bellevue University in Nebraska, Dr. Kayne teaches various courses, including Psychopathology and Diagnosis, Counseling Theories, Counseling Skills, Multicultural Counseling, Psychological Assessment and Buddhist Thought and Practice. Teaching on campus since 1987, and having been the Chief Acacademic Officer/Vice President for Academic Affairs from 1993 to 2002, he has also been a clinical consultant with DBA Vista Counseling and Consulting Services in Bellevue. He also formerly served as president, chairman and chief executive officer for American International Management Associates Ltd. in Denver for several years. Likewise, Dr. Kayne taught at Hillsdale College in Michigan as an associate professor of psychology and upheld his own private practice.
Specializing in psychological trauma and disaster mental health, general psychotherapy, forensic psychology, psychotherapy and Buddhist spirituality, Dr. Kayne first earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the University of Colorado. He continued his studies with a Master of Social Work in clinical social work and social planning at the University of Denver and Doctor of Philosophy in applied statistics/tests and measurement at the University of Northern Colorado. Dr. Kayne followed these accomplishments with postdoctoral studies in clinical neuropsychology at the University of Michigan Medical Center.
Dr. Kayne is a board certified Diplomate by the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work and in clinical social work by the National Association of Social Workers. Furthermore, he is certified in critical incident stress management, as a certified master social worker in both Nebraska and Michigan, and certified in system of multicultural pluralistic assessment. Dr. Kayne is licensed in independent mental health practice in Nebraska.
Serving in various roles in his area throughout his career, including on the board of the battered spouses program for Domestic Harmony and on the board of directors for a local religious school in Greeley, Dr. Kayne also spent time as an expert witness and consultant for multiple court systems, including the Branch County Juvenile Court, the Douglas County Juvenile Court, the First Judicial District Court of Colorado, the Hall County Court and the Hillsdale County Circuit Court. Furthermore, he has contributed many articles as author/co-author in his field of expertise and has served as a presenter in his field. Dr. Kayne has continued to work with first responders for the last 30 years.
A longtime member of multiple organizations, including the American Psychological Association, Nebraska Psychological Association, Michigan Psychological Association, the North Central Association for Counseling Education and Supervision. Dr. Kayne has also served as president, chair and board of directors for the Michigan Society for Investigative and Forensic Hypnosis. The recipient of a Legion of Merit from the Nebraska National Guard with the Military Department of Nebraska in 2008, he has been showcased in close to 50 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who in the World. Notably, Dr. Kayne served in the U.S. Army for eight years between 1962 and 1970.
Born in Sioux City, Iowa, Dr. Kayne is married to Sandra Kay Fosbender Kayne and has three children and two grandchildren. In his free time, he loves to ride his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and go hiking.
