ROCKVILLE, MD, September 04, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present William Morgan with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, William Morgan celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After excelling in the field of engineering for nearly 50 years, Dr. Morgan retired from his role as head hydromechanics directorate for the Caterrock Division of the David Taylor Model Basin, which is now known as the Naval Service Warfare Center. He started with the Basin as a hydraulic engineer in the early 1950s and held a number of positions over the years, including naval architect, naval architect superior, head of the propeller branch and head of the hydromechanics division. In addition to his work with the David Taylor Model Basin, Dr. Morgan has lent his expertise to the American and International Towing Tank Conferences, and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, through which he won the Davidson Medal.
Before he started in the field, Dr. Morgan earned a Bachelor of Science in marine engineering and an Ensign in the Naval Reserves from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Upon graduating, there were few jobs so he pursued a Master of Science in hydraulic engineering with the University of Iowa. Since he was in the Naval Reserves, this led him to his decades-long journey with the U.S. Navy's David Taylor Model Basin. He furthered his education through the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a Doctor of Engineering in naval architecture a decade later. In order to keep abreast of changes in the field, he affiliated himself with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers.
Throughout his career, Dr. Morgan has been recognized on numerous occasions for his professional accomplishments. In addition to earning the Navy Meritorious Service Award and the Navy Superior Civilian Service Award during his time in the reserves, he won the William Froude Medal from the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, a Gold Medal from the American Society of Naval Engineers and the honor of Distinguished Graduate through his undergraduate alma mater. A decorated professional, he has also been featured in Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
