Dr. Elaine Janet Anderson is a professor emeritus of biology at Shippensburg University.

Dr. Anderson is a professor emeritus of biology at Shippensburg University. Retiring in 2003, she formerly taught at Bloomsburg University between 1991 and 1994 and Pennsylvania State University between 1972 and 1978, was an assistant scientist at the University of Wisconsin for one year in 1974 and was a dean of women's studies and teacher at Schiller International University in Germany during 1971 and 1972. She also taught biology at the American International School in Austria from 1966 to 1969 and taught biology at a number of grade schools between 1966 and 1969. Outside of academia, Dr. Anderson devoted 13 years to serving as the owner and manager of Pip Printing, a franchise in Mechanicsburg, PA, executive director of the Pennsylvania Diabetes Academy and the National Diabetes Research Interchange, and the division director of the Pennsylvania Department of Health between 1978 and 1991. She also did consultant work through the Pennsylvania Academy for the Profession of Teaching for several years.
The author of several books, including the non-fiction "A Single Person's Guide to Buying a Home: Why to Do It and How to Do it" in 1993, Dr. Anderson also authored "Dragonfly" in 2006, "Chameleon" in 2008, "Invisibility Formula: Code Name IF" in 2010, "Priority 1, Code Name: Marty" in 2013 and "The Lighthouse Murder" in 2014.
A longtime member of several professional organizations such as the Pennsylvania Science Teachers Association, the American Educational Research Association and the Association of Supervision and Curriculum, Dr. Anderson also served her local community for numerous years. Recently, she was an elected member and chair of the Provincetown Housing Authority in 2014 and was co-chair of the Provincetown Conservation Commission from 2003 to 2008. Dr. Anderson helped achieve many wonderful changes in the town of Provincetown, MA, as well, including establishing one of the nicest dog parks in the country, while serving as Selectman in Provincetown from 2009 to 2015. She also developed a summer science camp for girls and worked to establish enough scholarships for the rural area of Pennsylvania while at Shippensburg College.
Honored every year from 2003 to 2008 by the Provincetown Conservation Commission for Outstanding Service, Dr. Anderson has also been cited in close to 20 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women. She holds a Bachelor of Science in biology education from Bloomsburg University and a Master of Education and Doctor of Philosophy in secondary science from Pennsylvania State University. She is certified in biology and as an English instructor and science supervisor in the state of Pennsylvania.
