Previously, she held the position of assistant supervisor of the operating room for South County Hospital in Wakefield, RI. Ms. Shapiro ended her career as a nursing care coordinator at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Shapiro pursued an education at Montefiore School of Nursing, graduating as a registered nurse in 1948. She concluded her studies at Philadelphia University in 1987, now known as Thomas Jefferson University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science. Furthermore, Ms. Shapiro supplemented these accomplishments with designation as a registered nurse in the state of Pennsylvania.
Beyond her responsibilities within the field, Ms. Shapiro has participated in numerous endeavors outside of her professional circles. She has proudly volunteered with many philanthropic efforts, including volunteer work as an operating nurse in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 1977 and as a volunteer for Operation Smile in Liberia in 1988, which she considers to be the highlights of her career. She has found success with her written works as well, having authored myriad articles for esteemed journals. In light of her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Shapiro was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Nursing, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
