Karl Maple has earned a Distinguished Faculty Award from the Logan Student Body and an Outstanding Young Educator Award through Illinois Jaycees.

After accruing 45 years of practiced experience in education, Dr. Maple retired from his role as an instructor with Southeastern Illinois College. Previously, he held similar teaching positions, and administrative and research roles with both Southeastern Illinois College and John A. Logan College. In addition to his work in education, he has also worked as a district assistant for Congressmen Bill Enyant, Jerry Costello, Glenn Poshard and Paul Simon. Today, Dr. Maple serves as a councilman for the city of Elkville, Illinois.
An expert in his field, Dr. Maple holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy from Southern Illinois University. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he affiliated himself with the Illinois and National Education Associations. During his spare time, Dr. Maple made it a point to give back to his community through Prison Family Support, where he sat on the board of directors and the Jackson County Public Housing Authority, where he served as chairman.
Throughout his career, Dr. Maple has been recognized for his accomplishments many times, earning a Distinguished Faculty Award from the Logan Student Body and an Outstanding Young Educator Award through Illinois Jaycees. It was a big honor for him because his students nominated him for the award. Additionally, he has been honored with inclusion in Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in American Education. Looking ahead, Dr. Maple intends to experience the continued success of his current professional role.
