He holds a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University. He is also a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. His career began in veterinary medicine in private practice in Albuquerque, NM, and field representative with American Animal Hospital Association prior to becoming a professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Oklahoma State University. He has now held the title of professor emeritus at Oklahoma State University for 23 years. Besides his clinical work in the field, Dr. Quinn has contributed his expertise as author of articles in professional journals, been a guest lecturer at local, state, and national meetings, as well as the Atlantic Veterinary College in Canada, Mississippi State University, and St. George University in Grenada.
For his achievements throughout his career, Dr. Quinn has been honored by many professional organizations. Most notably, he received the Western Region Practitioner Award from the American Animal Hospital Association, the Small Animal Proficiency Award from the Kansas Veterinary Medical Association and the Meritorious Service Award from the Western Veterinary Conference. Other honors have included: Hall of Fame For Veterinary Ophthalmology and the Lifetime Achievement Award in Veterinary Ophthalmology by the American Biographical Institute, Strathmore's Who's Who, and the Distinguished Service Award by the American Society of Veterinary Ophthalmology. As an accomplished professional, Dr. Quinn attributes his success to his mentors, Dr. Fayne Oberst, Dr. Jacob Mosier, and his personal motivator, Zig Zaglar. Civically, Dr. Quinn served as a Captain in the U.S. Army. Today, in order to remain aware of developments in the field, Dr. Quinn maintains membership in the Veterinary Medical Association, the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists, and the American Animal Hospital Association.
