He knew that he wanted to venture into the engineering field while studying in college, and once he graduated, he became a professor in the department of electrical and computer engineering at the University of the District of Columbia, where he served for nearly four decades. Aside from his endeavors in education, Dr. Bhar also served as a consultant for several organizations, including Bell Laboratories, the Naval Research Laboratory, the National Bureau of Standards, and the United States Army Command Air Force (Department of Defense). In this capacity, he would solve problems in electrical engineering alongside other consultants in order to find the best solutions.
Civically, Dr. Bhar has given back to his community by founding a scholarship at a high school located in Kolkata, India. He also contributed his expertise to his field by co-authoring an industry text, "Electrostatic Discharge Control: Successful Methods for Microelectronics Design and Manufacturing" in 1983. Today, in order to remain aware of developments in the engineering industry, Dr. Bhar maintains affiliation with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the American Society for Engineering Education. As a testament to his professional successes, he was selected for inclusion in the 12th edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering and the 66th edition of Who's Who in America.
