When he was younger, Dr. Lindor thought he was going to follow in his father's footsteps and become an engineer, but his uncles got him interested in medicine and changed the course of his life. With more than 35 years of practiced experience, he works as a professor and senior advisor to the provost at Arizona State University, where he started as executive vice provost of health solutions in 2012 and was the founding Dean for the College of Health Solutions. In addition to his work with the university, he continues to serve as a reviewer and researcher for the National Institutes of Health. At the start of his career, he joined the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and held a variety of roles, including assistant and associate professor of medicine, associate vice chair of the department of medicine, chair of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, professor of medicine, and dean of the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.
A diplomate through the American Board of Gastroenterology, Dr. Lindor holds a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Minnesota and a Doctor of Medicine from the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine. Due to the ever-changing nature of the medical field, he has maintained affiliation with the American Liver Foundation, the American Gastroenterology Association, the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. A contributor to numerous articles in professional journals, he has also lent his knowledge to the editing of "Primary Biliary Cirrhosis: From Pathogenesis to Clinical Treatment."
For his outstanding work in the field of medicine, Dr. Lindor has been honored many times. In addition to earning a grant through the National Institutes of Health and a MacMillan Management Scholarship through the Mayo Clinic, he has been honored with inclusion in professional publications such as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
