With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Findley retired in 2009, having been a principal researcher with the United States Census Bureau since 1980. Prior to obtaining this role, he was an associate professor with the University of Tulsa from 1975 to 1982 and an assistant professor with the University of Cincinnati from 1968 to 1975, having been an instructor with the school from 1965 to 1966. In addition to his primary roles, Dr. Findley served as a visiting professor with the Institute of Statistical Mathematics in Japan, a visiting scholar with St. John's College in England, and a guest professor at Karl Ruprecht University and Wissenschaftlicher Assistant with Goethe University Frankfurt in Germany.
Dr. Findley began his career as a student at the University of Cincinnati, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in mathematics in 1962 and completing a Master of Arts in 1963. He continued his studies at Goethe University Frankfurt, where he earned a Doctor of Natural Science, magna cum laude, in 1967. A respected voice in the field, Dr. Findley has been affiliated with numerous organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He is a member of the American Statistical Association, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and Sigma Xi.
Throughout his career, Dr. Findley has been recognized for his contributions, including with the Julius Shiskin Award for Contributions to Economic Statistics. The winner of a U.S. Department of Commerce Gold Medal, he has been named an honorary fellow of the American Statistical Association. Dr. Findley has been featured in numerous honors publications, including Who's Who in the East and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
