Mr. Goldman began his career as an associate with Davis, Polk & Wardwell LLP in New York City from 1971 to 1974. Following this appointment, he served as an assistant general counsel at Ryder System, Inc., in Miami, FL, from 1974 to 1976. He was a member of Greenberg Traurig, LLP, from 1976 to 1986, and after this opportunity, he was active as a managing director at Coopers & Lybrand, now known as PricewaterhouseCoopers, from 1986 to 1988. From 1988 to 1991, he contributed to the Southeast Banking Corporation as senior vice president, and from 1991 to 1997, he was a senior partner with Steel, Hector & Davis, LLP. Mr. Goldman concluded his career as a senior partner with Holland & Knight from 1998 until his retirement from the industry in 2009.
Prior to embarking on his career, Mr. Goldman graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, with distinction, from the University of Virginia in 1967. Following this accomplishment, he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Virginia in 1970. Mr. Goldman was subsequently admitted to practice law in the state of New York in 1971 and the state of Florida in 1975.
Alongside his career, Mr. Goldman served in the United States Army Reserves from 1968 to 1974. In 1970, he was published in the University of Virginia Law Review. He has also held a position on the editorial board of the University of Virginia Law Review. He worked as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Miami School of Law in Florida from 1982 to 1987 and from 1997 to 2005, and was co-chair of a mergers and acquisitions symposium from 1997 to 2004. From 1982 to 1986, Mr. Goldman was a trustee of the Coconut Grove Playhouse in Miami and vice president and board member of the Miami City Ballet from 1995 to 2000.
Mr. Goldman was chairman of the board and board member of the American Heart Association of Miami from 1994 to 2000 and a vice chairman of the board and board member of South Florida PBS (formerly WPBT2 and WXEL39) from 1981 to 1987, and since 1992. Additionally, he is a member of the American Bar Association, the Florida Bar Association and the Dade County Bar Association. Mr. Goldman has previously been selected for inclusion in the 20th edition of Who's Who in the South and Southwest and the first edition of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
