With nearly 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Kocher was a research associate with the Eastman Kodak Company from 1982 to 2000. Prior to obtaining this position, he held a number of roles with the Xerox Corporation, including as a project manager from 1979 to 1982, a senior scientist from 1977 to 1979, and a scientist from 1966 to 1976. From 1964 to 1966, he was a staff engineer with the General Motors Corporation, having been a research engineer with the Canadian division of General Electric Corporation from 1963 to 1964. Earlier in his career, Dr. Kocher was a reader with the Indian Institute of Technology from 1962 to 1963.
Dr. Kocher began his career as a student at Oklahoma State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering in 1957. He continued his studies with Purdue University, completing a Master of Science in mechanical engineering in 1959. He subsequently joined Michigan State University, where he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in applied mechanics in 1963. Dr. Kocher is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Pi Tau Sigma, Tau Beta Pi and Sigma Xi.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kocher has been recognized for his contributions, including having received a Special Merit Award and having been nominated for the President's Award by the Xerox Corporation.
