EDMOND, OK, October 19, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dennis Weigand with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Weigand celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Weigand began his career as an intern at St. Francis Hospital, now known as the Via Christi Hospital St. Francis, in Wichita, Kansas from 1963 to 1964. From 1964 to 1967, he was a resident in dermatology at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. After this opportunity, he was further associated with the University of Oklahoma as an assistant professor of dermatology from 1970 to 1974. From 1974 to 1978, he continued his career at the University of Oklahoma as associate professor of dermatology. Dr. Weigand also spent time as the vice head of the department of dermatology at the University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Weigand served as an adjunct associate professor in pathology at the University of Oklahoma since 1977 and as a professor of dermatology since 1978. During this time, he was also the chief of the dermatology service at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Oklahoma City from 1978 to 1992. Dr. Weigand is retired, however, he continues to hold the position of professor emeritus at the University of Oklahoma.
Prior to embarking on his career, Dr. Weigand received his Bachelor of Science from Northwestern Oklahoma State College in 1960. Following this achievement, he earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Oklahoma in 1963. Dr. Weigand was a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatopathology and the American Board of Dermatology.
In addition to his career, Dr. Weigand served as a major in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970. He was a regular contributor of articles to professional journals and has contributed to the University of Oklahoma in the role of volunteer teacher as well. He is a fellow of the American Society of Dermatopathology and the American Academy of Dermatology. He was a member of the American Dermatological Association, Alpha Omega Alpha and the American Medical Association. He has been decorated with an Army Commendation Medal and has also been listed to the Healthgrades Honor Roll. Dr. Weigand has previously been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
Dr. Weigand became involved in his profession when he developed an interest in biological science and a motivation to public service. Most of his practice has been in public service rather than private practice. He considers being elected to Alpha Omega Alpha as a senior medical student to be a high point in his career. Another high point Dr. Weigand is proud of is when his name was put on a conference room in the building that his department occupied.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Weigand has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
