ROBINSON, IL, October 19, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Winifred Ann Reed Woven, PhD with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Wolven celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A dynamic and dedicated professional, Dr. Wolven boasts 40 years in journalism and 32 years in education. She developed a love of the written word from a long line of educators in her family. Her mother, Winifred V. Reed, was a history teacher, while her grandmother, Margaret Vycital, was a reading specialist in the Washington, D.C. school system and her other grandmother, Octavia Webb, was a superintendant of elementary education in Washington, D.C. As a child, Dr. Wolven would have tea parties with her grandmothers, where they would read short stories and write poetry together.

Though she was highly influenced by the educators in her family, Dr. Wolven initially decided to apply her love of writing toward journalism. She later obtained a Bachelor of Art in English from Mary Baldwin College and a Master of Science in journalism from Northwestern University. Dr. Wolven went on to work as a journalist at various publications in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Illinois.

Dr. Wolven later received a call from a former editor who taught at Lynchburg College, asking her to teach a journalism class and to advise the college's award-winning student newspaper. She took the opportunity to obtain a Master of Arts in Secondary English Education, and began her career in education. In 2015, she obtained a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership with an Emphasis in Higher Education Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Today, Dr. Wolven serves as a tenured professor of English and Director of English and Communication Assessment at Lincoln Trail College, while teaching a full course load and serving on numerous committees.

In addition to her work as an educator, Dr. Wolven works a freelance journalist. She also contributes her expertise as a publisher, author, and presenter of workshops, professional journals, and books. As an educator, she has designed several face-to-face, hybrid, and online English and literature courses at her school. Throughout her career, Dr. Wolven has been awarded for her academic and journalistic achievements by various organizations, such as the Eisenhower Professional Development Program, the Student Advantage Network (TRIO SSS), and the Virginia Press Association.

Though she did not initially plan to become an educator, Dr. Wolven has fallen in love with her profession, citing multiple highlights of her career as seeing the potential in students who could not see it themselves. On one occasion, she was able to help a student who was convinced he would fail her class, earn an English award. In addition, she recently learned that one of her former students published a book of poetry because of the encouragement she received as a student in her English class. Dr. Wolven maintains affiliation with professional institutions such as the Online Learning Consortium, the Lincoln Trail College Foundation, the Illinois Education Association, the National Education Association and Illinois Eastern Community Colleges.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Winifred Ann Reed Woven, PhD has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
