A highly esteemed physician and educator who has more than 50 years of medical experience to his credit, Dr. Fusaro is currently retired, having most recently worked as an adjunct professor of medicine, adjunct professor of preventive medicine and public health, and adjunct professor of pharmacy sciences at the Creighton University School of Medicine.
Dr. Fusaro served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. Following his service, he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1949, Bachelor of Science in 1951, and Doctor of Medicine in 1953 from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Fusaro began his teaching career at the University of Minnesota, working from instructor to associate professor from 1957 to 1970. During this time, he continued his studies at the University of Minnesota, earning a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in 1958 and 1965, respectively. Dr. Fusaro also served as director of the university's outpatient dermatology clinic from 1962 to 1970.
In 1970, Dr. Fusaro was named professor and chairman of the dermatology department at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. In 1975, he was additionally appointed to the same post at the Creighton University School of Medicine. Dr. Fusaro remained a professor at both universities until 2008. During his professorship, Dr. Fusaro also served as director of the dermatology residency program of the Creighton-Nebraska Universities Health Foundation from 1975 to 1983 and acting chief of the dermatology section at the University of Nebraska Medical Center from 1991 to 1994.
A diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, Dr. Fusaro is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology and Sigma Xi. He has contributed more than 264 articles to professional publications, 37 chapters to books and abstracts to professional publications. In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Fusaro was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who's Who in the Science and Engineering.
