BAY VILLAGE, OH, October 23, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Victoria L. Todd with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Todd celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A child, adolescent and adult psychoanalyst, Ms. Todd established her private practice in 2007. She has also been employed by the Hanna Perkins Center for Child Development since 1999 and teaches at Case Western Reserve University, Hanna Perkins Center and the Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center. She recently founded The Psychodynamic Learning Center, which offers online continuing education courses and podcasts.
Ms. Todd formerly served as a child and family therapist for the Children's Aid Society in Cleveland from 1989 to 2000, and as a child and family therapist at Akron Children's Hospital's Family Recovery Center from 1988 to 1994. Ms. Todd was first hired as a social worker in 1978 by the Summit County Children Services Board in Akron, where she remained until 1989. During the course of her career, Ms. Todd has notably served as a member of the Ohio Child Sexual Abuse Treatment Committee in Akron (1988-1994) and as a member of the advisory board for the Summit County Juvenile Court's guardian ad litem program in 1988-1989.
She is currently focusing her efforts on her Mad Feelings Program, a preschool bullying prevention program she developed. When bullying became a nationwide cause of concern, she was writing parenting tips for church bulletins, libraries, daycare facilities and other organizations. Devising her program, she initially focused her attention on older children by getting a group of teenage boys together at lunch to go over realistic bullying situations, which she later presented at a conference in Washington, DC. Thereafter she focused on younger students ages 3 to 5. The program teaches them how to recognize and verbalize their mad feelings rather than acting them out.
Ms. Todd has authored numerous articles and books chapters on topics such as child mental health and chronic medical problems. These include: Illustrated Book: Sigmund Freud Cartoons for Couch Potatoes (2014) International Psychoanalytic Books; Articles: Todd, V. (2007/2008). Making Something Pretty out of a Mess. At the age of 21, Ms. Todd began studying and reading about Anna Freud, the daughter of Sigmund Freud, psychoanalyst. Determined to work in the same field, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and psychology in 1976, followed by an MSSA in social service administration, summa cum laude, at Case Western Reserve University in 1987. It was during her time at Case Western Reserve University, that she obtained a part-time job working with latency-aged children in residential treatment. She found their emotional suffering to be intolerable and was committed to do all that she could to help them and others with mental health problems. She has since become certified in child and adult psychoanalysis through the American Psychoanalytic Board and is a licensed independent social worker and supervisor in the state of Ohio.
Ms. Todd received a President's Award from the Junior League for work on behalf of children and parents, a Community Service Award from the Treatment Subcommittee of the Ohio Child Sexual Abuse Grant, a Community Service Award from the Guardian ad Litem Advisory Board of the Summit County Juvenile Court, and a Community Service Award from the Children at Risk Coalition.
