With more than 55 years of professional experience, Mr. Rutstein has been a commercial realtor and sales executive with RE/MAX Alliance Realty since 2007, having previously worked with Wagner Realty from 2002 to 2007. In addition to his primary roles, he was the president and chief executive officer for Northeast Knitters and S/J Designs from 1989 to 2002. Appointed to the board of directors of Reynolds Brothers, Inc., from 1989 to 1995, Mr. Rutstein was the chair, chief executive officer and president for the Narragansett Clothing Company from 1987 to 1990.
From 1987 to 1991, Mr. Rutstein was the chair of Trim Trends, Inc., for which he has held the post of president since 1986. He was the president of Chadwicks of Boston from 1983 to 1985, the president of Commonwealth Trading, Inc. from 1979 to 1985, and director, president, and chief operating officer of the U.S. Shoe Corp. from 1976 to 1979. Earlier in his career, Mr. Rutstein excelled as president of Casual Corner from 1971 to 1976, where he previously worked as buyer and merchandise manager from 1963 to 1971, and as a buyer with Barbara Lynn Stores, Inc., from 1961 to 1963.
Mr. Rutstein began his career as a student at Wilkes University, completing coursework from 1959 to 1961. He subsequently graduated from the advanced management program at Harvard Business School in Harvard University in 1975. An active leader in his community, he has served on the board of directors for Partners for Disabled Youth, the Icing, Inc., the Sarasota Economic Development Corp, the Harvard Club of Sarasota, Jewish Family & Children's Service of the Suncoast, and AJC, the largest human rights organization in the world. Mr. Rutstein also spent 7 years as the director of the Sarasota County Economic Development Board. Likewise, Mr. Rutstein held the position of the director of Sarasota Film and Sarasota Season Sculpture.
Mr. Rutstein has been recognized many times throughout his career for his contributions. He has been featured in multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the South and Southwest. Additionally, he maintained involvement as a member of the Young President Organizations.
