Following his destiny to pursue electrical engineering, Mr. Migliaro has served as the president and chief executive officer of the Industry Standards and Technology Organization in affiliation with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for the past 15 years. He began his career as an engineer with American Electric Power in New York City in 1969, where he remained for nine years before becoming a staff engineer with Gibbs & Hill, Inc., for three years and the senior consultant engineer at Ebasco Services, Inc., for seven years. Moving away from the city, he became the technical manager at ABB Impell Corporation in Melville, NY, from 1988 to 1990, and then relocated south to become the senior staff specialist for nuclear engineering at Florida Power & Light in Juno Beach, FL, for six years, making his way up to its chief electrical/instrumentation and control engineer until 2003. Most recently, he became president of ESA Consultant Engineers, PA, in Jupiter, FL, a position he served until 2018.
Mr. Migliaro obtained a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, in 1969. He then completed postgraduate coursework at the New Jersey Institute of Technology for two years. During this time, he became a registered professional engineer in the states of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Florida, received a fellowship from the IEEE, and developed a seminar on stationary batteries in 1987. He has also contributed two manuals, the "Handbook of Power Calculations" and the "Standard Handbook for Electrical Engineers," both of which are in its fourth edition, as well as over 40 professional articles.
Along with his professional roles, Mr. Migliaro has served in numerous important board positions with the IEEE and the IEEE Power Engineering Society, earning two Distinguished Service Awards from the latter in 1988 and 1992. He has also been affiliated with the Industry Standards and Technology Organization as chairman for three years and on the board of directors since the turn of the century. In addition, he has received numerous accolades from the IEEE, including a Standards Medallion, a Third Millennium Medal and a Charles Proteus Award, as well as the Meritorious Service Award from the American National Standards Institute in 1994. He is listed in the 11th edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering and several editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
