With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Tarro has been retired since 2007. Prior to his retirement, he held a number of positions with the D. Cotugno Hospital for Infectious Diseases, including head of diagnostic laboratories from 2003 to 2006, president of the ethics committee from 1998 to 2007, and chief of virology from 1973 to 2006. In addition to his primary roles, he was a professor of microbiology, oncologic virology, and immunology at the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II from 1971 to 2006, and an assistant professor of research pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati from 1968 to 1969. Earlier in his career, Dr. Tarro was a research associate of virology and cancer research at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center from 1965 to 1968 and a research fellow and chief at the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche from 1966 to 1974, where he was also an assistant in medical pathology from 1964 to 1966.
Dr. Tarro began his career with the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, where he obtained a Doctor of Medicine in 1962, completed postgraduate coursework in nervous diseases in 1968, and earned a Doctor of Philosophy in virology in 1971. He subsequently joined the Roman Academy, completing postgraduate coursework in medical and biological sciences in 1979. Dr. Tarro also holds an honorary degree of immunology from St. Theodora Academy, in bioethics from the Constantinian University, in biomedical technologies from ASAM University, and in social sciences from Bonake University.
Throughout his career, Dr. Tarro has been recognized for his contributions. He received a Wojtila-Roncalli International Award, the Rilancio Italia Award, the International Prize, the International Peace Award, and the Global Education Sanremo Award. The recipient of a Gold Coliseum Award, he received Knight of the Grand Cross from the Cernetic Imperial Order and Gold Medals from the Royal House of Maharaja Adinda Aranana, the Norman Academy, and for 50 Years as an MD. Dr. Tarro has been featured in multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the World.
