Mr. Klayman began his legal career as an associate with Allen Brown in Cincinnati, Ohio from 1970-1971. He became a partner with the newly formed firm, Brown, Dennison & Klayman from 1971-1978. He also taught law at the University of Cincinnati College of Business from 1974-1977. From 1977-1978 he was a visiting assistant professor of Business Law at The Ohio State University Business School. He continued his career at that university as an assistant professor from 1978-1984; and then a tenured associate professor from 1984 until his retirement with emeritus status in 2007. He currently teaches history at an online graduate school where he also serves as that organization's Chief Operating Officer.
Prior to embarking on his career, Mr. Klayman obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1966. Following this accomplishment, he earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1969. In that year he was admitted to practice law in the state of Ohio. He earned an LL.M from Harvard Law School in 1970 and became a member of the federal bar in 1971. Mr. Klayman is also certified in Arizona where he serves as in-house counsel to a nonprofit corporation. Mr. Klayman earned an M.A. in History in 2006 from The Ohio State University; and in 2014 he received his rabbinic ordination.
Mr. Klayman is the author of "Irwin's Business Law" (1994), the 12th edition of "The Legal Environment of Business" (2012) and the 10th edition of "Real Estate Law" (2019). In 1992 he was an editor of the Midwest Business Law Journal and served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Legal Studies Education from 1993 to 1994. He also served as editor of the Kesher journal from 2014 to 2018 and currently is an editor of Mishkan; Mr. Klayman has edited The Messianic Outreach since 1985 and currently serves as executive director of Messianic Literature Outreach. He is a regular contributor to professional journals, having authored over one hundred articles.
Mr. Klayman is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Phi Alpha Delta and Phi Alpha Kappa. In 1979 he was awarded the Merit Plaque by The Ohio State Center for Real Estate and was honored by the American Society of Appraisers in 1981. He served as President of the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations from 1986 to 1990. In 2005, he was the recipient of the Daniel Westerbeck Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business and the Teaching Award from the Order of Omega. Mr. Klayman has previously been selected for inclusion in the fourth edition of Who's Who in American Law, the first edition of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America, the 31st edition of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, and multiple editions of Who's Who in American Education.
