With 54 years of experience under his belt, Mr. Wilder serves as a shareholder and attorney with Ryley, Carlock & Applewhite, where he specializes in public finance, corporate and securities law, real estate, probate and estate planning, and the representation of corporate fiduciaries. From 1988 until 1998, he served as the firm's initial managing shareholder. Throughout his time with the firm, he has represented bond issuers, underwriters, indenture trustees and borrowing entities and has also worked as bond counsel in regards to public financing transactions. Mr. Wilder is licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Arizona and admitted to practice by the United States District Court for the district of Arizona in 1964.
An AV-Rated Attorney through Martindale-Hubbell, Mr. Wilder served two years on active duty in the U.S. Navy, aboard the destroyer USS Mansfield and then in 1958 enrolled at the University of Arizona in Tucson where in 6 years he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in business administration and a Bachelor of Laws Degree, graduating third in the law school class out of an initial enrollment of nearly 200. Utilizing his varied and extensive background, he frequently lectures at legal and continuing education seminars and programs. In order to remain abreast of changes in the field, he affiliates himself with the National Association of Bond Lawyers, the State Bar of Arizona and the Maricopa County Bar Association.
Mr. Wilder is a Founding Fellow of both the Arizona Bar Foundation and is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers. He has been Director of Audubon Arizona and the Phoenix Community Alliance. He is a Trustee (1998 to 2018) and Board President (2003 to 2005) of The Desert Botanical Garden, Inc., Director of Arizonans for Cultural Development (1994 to 2000), and Director (1993 to 1997) and President (1995 to 1996) of The Arizona Club. He also served on the Chapter Advisory Board of the Assistance League of Phoenix (1989 to 1993), was Arizona Affiliate and Director (1975 to 1985) and Chairman of Board (1982 to 1983) of the American Heart Association. Furthermore, he was Chairman of Ducks Unlimited (1974 to 1976) and Assistant Scoutmaster of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 329 (1965 to 1975).
Throughout his career, Mr. Wilder has been recognized many times for his outstanding accomplishments, earning awards through the Best Lawyers in America and the Legal Lenders' Top Rated Lawyer List. Looking toward the future, he intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career. In light of all his accomplishments, Mr. Wilder has previously been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in American Law.
Born in 1938 to Carleton Stafford and Judith (Carlock) W., he married Liisa Wilder on October 18, 1975. Mr. Wilder has two grown children, Rebecca Butcher and Andrew Wilder.
