Celebrating 50 years as an optometrist, Dr. Bierman has been serving the Lansdale, PA, and surrounding areas by specializing in the visual analysis of children and adults with reading and learning problems. His office offers optometric testing for behavioral conditions such as attention deficits and/or hyperactivity disorders, as well as functional vision care. His services notably include preventive eye care, CRT related exams, contact lenses, vision therapy, sports vision and bi-focal contact lenses.
Renowned for his advanced use of yoked prisms in the treatment of reading concentration problems, Dr. Bierman served on the eye care quality assurance committee for U.S. Healthcare between 1991 and 1998. He also served as a visual consultant for the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit's preschool screening program for physically handicapped children for 11 years between 1976 and 1987, screening children between the ages of 11 months to five years.
Dr. Bierman formerly taught at his alma mater, Pennsylvania College of Optometry, between 1968 and 1979. A clinical instructor and assistant professor of optometry during his tenure, he taught courses in clinical skills and case analysis. Dr. Bierman has also lectured widely throughout northern Pennsylvania on children's reading and learning problems to parent groups and school systems and has contributed scholarly articles to various peer-reviewed optometry journals.
An elected fellow of the American Academy of Optometry since 1972, Dr. Bierman is also a longtime member of the American Optometric Association, the Pennsylvania Optometric Association, the Bucks-Montgomery Optometric Society, the Optometric Extension Program and the College of Optometrists and Visual Development. He is a former president of the eastern Pennsylvania chapter of the American Academy of Optometry between 1978 and 1980.
