A leading expert in the medical industry, Dr. Combs has been an internal medicine specialist since 2008. In addition to his primary role, he is the local medical examiner for Tazewell County since 2018, as well as an assistant professor and clinical faculty member of the department of internal medicine at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine and an associate medical director of Legacy Hospice. He is a former emergency room physician for Carillion Tazewell Virginia Medical Center and Carilion Clinic, and he was the vice chief of staff at the Russell County Medical Center of the Mountain States Health Alliance. He also served as chief of staff at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital from 2017 to 2018.
Dr. Combs was inspired to pursue a career in the field by his family, many of whom are physicians. He began his career as a student at the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Pikeville, earning a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004, and then completed his residency at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, VA. He is board-certified in internal medicine and a member of the American Medical Association and the American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Combs is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists.
Attributing much of his success to his faith, Dr. Combs has been an active leader in his community. He is a member of the Russell County Rotary and Freedom Ministries in Claypool, VA. Looking toward the future, he intends to continue educating people on the complications of diabetes. For his efforts in the field, he has been recognized multiple times, having previously been on the National Dean's List. In his free time, Dr. Combs enjoys assistant teaching martial arts.
