A native of France, Ms. Bains (nee Denise Simone Rabeyrolle) studied at the Ecole Francaise de Kinesitherapie in Paris. Completing her education, she began her career at the Winchmore Hill Hospital in London, England from 1953 to 1954. She also spent two years in private practice in the city of Paris, France from 1954 to 1957. Relocating to the USA, she came to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston in 1957, working under the direction of Ms. Ruby Decker in the department of physical therapy. Ms. Bains was the very first French kinesitherapist to pass the American Physical Therapy Association examination and become certified. She then became a full time employee at the Medical Branch. She left Galveson in 1960 to work at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. During the period 1962 to 1965 she worked briefly in Montreal, Canada; Stockholm, Sweden; Seattle, Washington; and Columbia, Missouri. She returned to work at the Medical Branch in Galveston in 1965.

From very early on in her professional path, Ms. Bains desired to work in the medical profession in some capacity. Choosing physical therapy enabled her to not only help patients, but also the freedom to spend quality time with each of them.

In 1965 she met and married Dr. Louis Bains. Living in Houston, Texas they had three children--- Gabrielle, William, and Christopher. Ms. Bains did not work again as a physical therapist for the next seventeen years. She returned to work as a physical therapist in 1982 being employed by the Harris County Department of Education as a school therapist. She retired from her physical therapy work in 1989.

During the period of unemployment (1965-1982) Ms. Bains turned to hobby interests. She was always an avid reader and joined the Great Books club in Houston. She later became a club leader, starting a Great Books club for children at one of the local schools. She also began writing stories. Inspired by her former highschool philosophy teacher, Ms. Bains took several courses at the University of Houston to improve her writing skills. Moving to Temple, Texas she continued her participation in the Great Books program.

After the move to Temple in 1990 she joined the Temple Storytellers Group. In 2003 she wrote a long article published in Lettre aux Amis de la Famille Saint Jean and in 2004 she published a short story in "The Noble Generation II."
