In addition to his primary role, he served as vice president of finance and royalties for Milan Entertainment from 2005 to 2015, controller at Creative Media Promotions from 2000 to 2005, and controller at York Entertainment from 1999 to 2000. From 1983 to 1998, he was executive vice president, general manager, and co-founder of Command Records, and from 1980 to 1982, he was general manager of Spirit Records. In addition, from 1975 to 1979, he was staff producer at Motown. Earlier in his career, Mr. Washburn was an independent producer for multiple prestigious labels, such as RCA and Warner Brothers, from 1972 to 1975, a freelance musician from 1968 to 1971, and a schoolteacher at Weleetka, OK High School from 1966 to 1968.
Mr. Washburn began his career as a student at Oklahoma State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Music in 1964. He continued his studies with the university, working on a Master of Business Administration in 1966. Following his education, he joined the United States National Guard, serving in the 145th Army Band from 1966 to 1970.
A respected leader in his community, Mr. Washburn has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. He is a member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and the Gospel Music Association. He was the producer or co-producer of several chart topping albums and recordings, including Billboard's Gospel Album of the Year in 1985, and has also co-written multiple number one songs.
