Retiring from education in 2015, she taught at Westchester Community College in New York, Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. and Cathedral High School in New York City. In the field, Ms. Bucolo most recently served as a research technician at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn between 2004 and 2008.
Ms. Bucolo has excelled as a senior research technician at Columbia University and Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City, a senior research technician at New York University Hospital and a research technician at New York Hospital since 1983. Recognized for her contributions to cancer research, immunology and neuroscience, she is most proud of the work she did on HIV and cancer research. Ms. Bucolo's studies have been specific to a factor VIII inhibitor and inhibited reverse transciptase of HIV, as well as spinal cord injury and neuronal regeneration.
During her career, Ms. Bucolo found success as a correspondent for "Scienceport" in Rye, N.Y. between 1994 and 1996. She also pursued a summer internship at Rockefeller University during 2003. Additionally, Ms. Bucolo is a longstanding member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the New York Academy of Sciences, the American Chemical Society and Sigma Xi.
Ms. Bucolo has been selected for inclusion in more than 35 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare and Who's Who in Science and Engineering. She notably holds a Bachelor of Science in French from Oneonta State College, a Master of Arts in French from Middlebury College and a Master of Science in biotechnology from Manhattan College. Ms. Bucolo also completed postgraduate coursework at Columbia University.
