Edward G. Tezak was presented with the Elliot Colchamiro Award from the New York State Engineering Technology Association.

Dr. Tezak began his career as the dean of the School of Information Systems and Engineering Technology, SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome from 1993 to 1997. After this opportunity, he held the position of dean of the School of Engineering Technology at Alfred State College from 1998 to 1999. He maintained involvement with Alfred State as an associate professor from 1999 to 2000 and as a professor of mechanical engineering technology from 2000 to 2005. From 2000 to 2016, Dr. Tezak served as the secretary and treasurer of the Council for Engineering Technology for the state of New York.
During this time, Dr. Tezak was also secretary of the engineering technology division of the American Society for Engineering Education from 2004 to 2016. He continued his career with Alfred State as SUNY distinguished service professor from 2005 to 2016 and as chair of the mechanical and electrical engineering technology department from 2011 to 2016. Dr. Tezak has been SUNY distinguished service professor emeritus of Alfred State since 2016.
Prior to embarking on his professional path, Dr. Tezak received his Bachelor of Science in engineering from the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York in 1963. Following this accomplishment, he earned his Master of Science in astrodynamics from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1967. He concluded his education with a Doctor of Philosophy in engineering mechanics from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia in 1979. Dr. Tezak was a certified professional engineer from 1984 to 2016.
Additionally, Dr. Tezak served as instructor and assistant professor at the United States Military Academy from 1969 to 1972. He later excelled as associate professor and director of the solid mechanics group at the United States Military Academy from 1976 to 1979. From 1979 to 1981, Dr. Tezak was appointed to the post of assistant dean of administration and director of the administration and management division in the Office of the Dean at the United States Military Academy.
Dr. Tezak was further associated with the United States Military Academy as a tenured associate professor from 1981 to 1988 and deputy head of the department of mechanics in 1988. He held the role of associate dean of the academic board of the United States Military Academy from 1989 until his retirement from the United States Army with the rank of colonel in 1993. From 1993 to 1997, Dr. Tezak was a member of the advisory board for the department of mathematics at the United States Military Academy, and since 2002, he has been active on the advisory board of the department of civil and mechanical engineering.
From 1994 to 1997, Dr. Tezak was a member of the Common Council of the city of Utica, and since 2016, he has been involved with the Wellsville Lions Club. He is currently a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the New York State Engineering Technology Association, where he contributed to the executive committee from 2000 to 2016, and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi since 1977. Dr. Tezak is also affiliated with the American Society for Engineering Education, for which he has held the roles of division chair from 1989 to 1993, member of the board of directors and chair with the Professional Interest Council from 1993 to 1995, program chair of the engineering technology division from 2002 to 2003 and secretary of the engineering technology division from 2004 to 2016. He served on the International Program Committee for the International Conference on Distance Education in Russia, ICDED '96 from 1995 to 1997.
Dr. Tezak was recipient of the Outstanding Campus Liaison Representative Award from the American Society for Engineering Education in 1990. He also accepted the Outstanding Teacher Award and the Educator of the Year Award from the St. Lawrence section of the American Society for Engineering Education. Dr. Tezak was honored with Frederick J. Berger Award, the second highest award from the engineering technology division of the American Society for Engineering Education.
In 2016, Dr. Tezak was presented with the Elliot Colchamiro Award from the New York State Engineering Technology Association. He has also been awarded four Army Commendation Medals, two Bronze Stars for service, and the Legion of Merit from the United States Army. Dr. Tezak has previously been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World.
