Over the years, he has held a variety of positions with the University, including lecturer, senior lecturer, associate professor and honorary executive director in a number of scientific departments. Earlier in his career, Dr. Cheung found success through the Veteran Pharmaceutical Plant, Aston University, National Institutes of Health, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Organization, the City University of Hong Kong, the Pharmaceutical & Chemical Technology Center and The Chinese University of Hong Kong and many others.
Through the years, Dr. Cheung has accepted roles of increasing responsibility and honed his expertise in applied research, daily business operations, troubleshooting, assessing college courses and networking with other scientists in the field. An expert in his field, he obtained a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the National Defense Medical Center and a Doctor of Philosophy in Pharmaceutics from Aston University. In order to expand upon his knowledge, Dr. Cheung also obtained a certificate in public health through The Hong Kong Public Health Inspectors' Association, a certificate in electrical maintenance from China Productivity Council and a postdoctoral certificate in molecular biology from the National Institutes of Health.
Utilizing his expansive knowledge, Dr. Cheung has contributed to a plethora of published articles, including "oncogenes in radio resistant, noncancerous skin fibroblasts from a cancer-prone family," "alterations in extracellular substances during the biofilm development of Pseudomonas aeruginosa on aluminum plates" and "preventing H2O2-induced toxicity in primary cerebellar granule neurons via activating the P13-K/Akt/GSK3β pathway by kukoamine from Lycii Cortex" and "simultaneous determination of key bioactive components in Hedyotis diffusa by capillary zone electrophoresis." Along with others industry scholars, he has had his work featured in the Journal of Bacteriology, the Journal of Ethnopharmacology, the European Journal of Pharmacology, the Journal of Applied Microbiology, the Journal of Chromatography, the PLOS One, the Food Chemistry, the Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis and the Journal of Functional Foods, as well as many others. He has published over 350 papers; amongst these 150 are Science Citation Indexed original research articles. Additionally, Dr. Cheung holds many patents in the field and has been invited to speak at conferences all over the world due to his expertise. He was also the Editor-in-Chief of the Hong Kong Pharmaceutical Journal for over 10 years, and the reviewer for many journals or grant funding organizations.
For his excellence in many scientific fields, Dr. Cheung has been presented with performance and achievement awards through such organizations as the National Defense Medical Center, The World Congress of Arts, Sciences and Communications, the International Biographical Centre, the Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Association Congress and the City University of Hong Kong.
