Daryl Armentrout received the Daniel Barge Award and the Government Engineer Award from the Tennessee section of the American Society of Civil Engineers

With nearly 50 years of professional experience, Dr. Armentrout was a senior advisor with the Tennessee Valley Authority from 2012 to 2013, having been a senior manager of environmental engineering from 2011 to 2012. Prior to obtaining these roles, he was the environmental projects manager from 2003 to 2011, manager of partner business relations from 1999 to 2003, product development manager from 1996 to 1999, and a manager of nuclear assurance from 1986 to 1995. From 1977 to 1985, he was an assistant to the manager of engineering and construction, and from 1974 to 1977, he was chief of engineering services. In addition, from 1968 to 1974, he was a civil engineer. Earlier in his career, Dr. Armentrout was a production engineer with Humble Oil & Refining Company from 1965 to 1966. Since retiring from TVA in 2013, he has been an engineering consultant to various organizations.
Dr. Armentrout began his career as a student at Grace College & Seminary, completing coursework from 1960 to 1962. He then enrolled at the University of Tennessee, receiving a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering in 1965. He continued his studies at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, obtaining a Master of Science in structural engineering in 1968. He then returned to the University of Tennessee, where he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in civil engineering in 1981. Dr. Armentrout is a registered professional engineer in the state of Tennessee.
A respected voice in his industry, Dr. Armentrout has been affiliated with a number of organizations in his community. A fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, he is a lifetime member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, a member of the Technical Society of Knoxville, and the former president of the Tennessee Society of Professional Engineers. Dr. Armentrout is a member of Sigma Xi, Chi Epsilon, Tau Beta Pi and Phi Kappa Phi.
Throughout his career, Dr. Armentrout has been recognized for his contributions. He received the Daniel Barge Award and the Government Engineer Award from the Tennessee section of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and the Milton F. Lunch Award for Ethics from the National Society of Professional Engineers. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
