With more than 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Eberlein most recently served as a professor at the University of North Carolina from 1981 until his retirement in 2014. Prior to obtaining this role, he served as an associate professor with the school from 1975 to 1981 and an assistant professor of mathematics from 1973 to 1975. In addition to his primary positions, he was a guest researcher with the University of Bonn and the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in West Germany from 1971 to 1972 and again from 1983 to 1984. Earlier in his career, Dr. Eberlein was a lecturer at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1970 to 1973.
Dr. Eberlein began his career as a student at Harvard University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1965. He continued his studies with the University of California, Los Angeles, completing a Master of Arts in mathematics in 1967. He later earned a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1970, thus concluding his education.
A leading voice in his areas of interest, Dr. Eberlein has been an active member of his community. A contributor of myriad articles to professional journals, he has been recognized as a fellow of the American Mathematical Society. He is also a member of Mathematical Association of America and former member of the Institute for Advanced Study.
Throughout his career, Dr. Eberlein has been recognized for his achievements. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America and Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
