An adjunct faculty member in the Chemistry Department of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey-Newark Campus in 1983, Dr. Cohen began his career as a production chemist with the Eastman Kodak Company from 1959 to 1961.
Dr. Cohen initially pursued an education at the University of Rochester, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in 1959. He continued his studies at Northwestern University, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in 1965. Dr. Cohen concluded his academic efforts with support from the National Science Foundation, completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University from 1965 to 1967.
A respected voice in his areas of interest, Dr. Cohen has been an active leader in his community. A member of the American Chemical Society, he has authored multiple articles in peer-reviewed professional journals.
