James Franklin McCreary continues to serve on the American Arbitration Association panels as an arbitrator and mediator.

Mr. McCreary has more than 60 years of experience in banking and law. While a student at the University of Evansville, he worked part time at Old National Bank in Evansville, Indiana. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1964, he began his full time career at First American National Bank in Nashville, Tennessee. From 1964 to 1986 He held numerous official positions in the bank and its parent holding company, First American Corporation, Including Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Mr. McCreary earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the Nashville school of Law in 1969 and his Master of Business Administration degree from Vanderbilt University In 1980, both earned while working full time at the bank.
Mr. McCreary co-founded the firm of Gerrish & McCreary, p. c., Attorneys and Consultants (now known as Gerrish Smith Tuck, p.c.) in 1988 and, shortly thereafter, took a leave of absence to serve as President and Director of Metropolitan Bank in Nashville until 1991, when he returned to the practice of law. Mr. McCreary retired from the firm in 2016, but continues to serve on the American Arbitration Association panels as an arbitrator and mediator where he has served since 1997.
Throughout his career, Mr. McCreary has been recognized for his contributions. The recipient of the Mid-South Super Lawyer Award, he was named One of the Best Lawyers in Nashville. Impressively, he is AV Rated through Martindale-Hubbell's Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers. Mr. McCreary has been featured in numerous honor publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who in the World.
