Ms. Knight began her career as a designer with Albert Van Luit & Co. in Los Angeles, California in 1955. After this opportunity, she worked as an interior designer for W. & J. Sloane in Beverly Hills, California from 1955 to 1962. From 1962 to 1969, she served as interior designer for the Barnett Brothers in Beverly Hills, California. Ms. Knight contributed to Cannell & Chaffin as a senior designer from 1969 to 1982.
During this time, Ms. Knight was also on the board of directors for the Los Angeles Community Design Center from 1974 to 1980. Following this appointment, she was an instructor at the University of California at Los Angeles Extension School from 1981 to 2014. Ms. Knight has also been a member of the building and sites committee for the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Los Angeles.
Prior to embarking on her career, Ms. Knight completed undergraduate coursework at the Los Angeles City College in 1951. She continued her education at the University of California at Los Angeles from 1975 to 1981. Ms. Knight currently holds certification as an interior designer.
In addition to her career, Ms. Knight was a member of the design team at the La Casa Pacifica, also known as the Western White House, in San Clemente, California in 1969. She holds membership with the American Society of Interior Designers and has been a corporate member since 1975. Ms. Knight is also a member of the Institute of Interior Designers and held the position of vice president from 1971 to 1976. She has been a corporate member of the board of governors and the chairman of the community affairs committee for the Institute of Interior Designers as well.
Additionally, Ms. Knight belongs to the University of Southern California Architectural Guild and the Altrusa Club, where she served as president from 1967 to 1969 and director from 1969 to 1972. She has been recipient of the Lifetime Award and the Educator Medal from the American Society of Interior Designer and she was three times named Teacher of the Year by the University of California at Los Angeles Extension. Ms. Knight has previously been selected for inclusion in 57th edition of Who's Who in America and multiple editions of Who's Who in the West.
