With nearly 40 years of professional experience, Mr. Biggs most recently served as a professor of English, literature and drama at Iowa Western Community College from 1970 until his retirement in 2000, where he also served as head of the English department. Prior to obtaining these roles, he was a teacher and drama director at Omaha Adult Learning from 1966 to 1968 and at Omaha South High School from 1962 to 1970. Earlier in his career, he served as drama director and teacher at Memphis High School from 1961 to 1962.
Alongside his academic endeavors, Mr. Biggs was the director, actor and designer of Chanticleer, Inc., from 1968 to 1987, where he also sat on the board of directors and served as president of the board from 1973 to 1974. A director and actor of the Omaha Community Playhouse, he was also the producer and executive director of the Cabaret Theatre, a director and designer of the Norton Theatre and a freelance actor in numerous productions throughout Omaha, NE, between 1989 and 2011. He also adapted two plays from the short stories of American fiction author Lee Smith in 2015.
Mr. Biggs began his career as a student at Truman State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in education in 1961. He then joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, earning a Master of Arts in English in 1969. He is a lifetime member of the Theatre Arts Guild and the former president of the Metropolitan Actors Guild.
Throughout his career, Mr. Biggs has been recognized for his accomplishments. He received a Best Set Design Award for "The Grass Harp," a Theater Arts Guild Award, and an Outstanding Contribution to Theater Award. He was also named Drama Educator of the Year and has been the recipient of various local theatrical awards. Notably, he won Best Supporting Actor from a local community theater for his role in "Social Security." He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including the second and third editions of Who's Who in Entertainment.
