With nearly 40 years of professional experience, Dr. Tyndall was a research staff member with the health and safety research division of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory from 1988 to 1995. Prior to obtaining these roles, he was an adjunct research associate with the biology and environmental sciences division of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory from 1976 to 1987, and an associate professor of research zoology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, from 1976 to 1987. He was also the founder and chief executive officer of Microbial Monitoring from 1985 to 2000 and a co-founder of ReproTech Limited in 1981. Earlier in his career, Dr. Tyndall was a research staff member in the medical division at Oak Ridge Associated Universities from 1973 to 1976 and a research staff member of the biology division of the Oak Ridge National Laboratory from 1961 to 1973.
Dr. Tyndall began his career as a student at Pennsylvania State University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in microbiology in 1955. He continued his studies with the university, completing a Master of Science in microbiology in 1959. He concluded his education in 1961, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in microbiology.
A respected voice in his field, Dr. Tyndall has been an active leader in his community. An American Academy of Microbiology fellow, he is a member of the American Society for Microbiology, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Phi Sigma and Gamma Sigma Delta. He has also been recognized as an Atomic Energy Commission postdoctoral fellow.
Throughout his career, Dr. Tyndall has been recognized for his accomplishments. He has received awards and accolades from a number of organizations. He was awarded many patents. He has further been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who in the World.
