With more than 45 years of professional experience, Mr. Kilgore has held a private practice in Dallas, Irving and Galveston, TX, since 1973. In addition to his primary role, he served as a trial lawyer on toxic tort and benzene leukemia cases from 1984 to 1999, as a mediator and arbitrator with Kilgore Mediation Services since 1997, and as chair of the Mediation Services Board of Galveston from 1999 to 2011. He has additionally taught 40-hour basic mediation law courses at the University of Houston between 2000 and 2016.
Mr. Kilgore began his career as a student at the University of North Texas, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in banking and finance in 1970. He then joined the University of Houston, where he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1973. He later returned to his studies with the University of Houston C.T. Bauer College of Business, completing a graduate certificate in dispute resolution in 2000. He was admitted to practice law in the state of Texas, as well as before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the United States Supreme Court, and the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Texas.
A respected voice in the field, Mr. Kilgore has been an active leader in his community. He is a member of the Texas State Bar Association, Past President of the Galveston County Bar Association and the Lions Club, where he was a director. He has also been affiliated with the National Association of Securities Dealers Regulation Arbitration Board, Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Galveston, the Association of Attorney-Mediators and Grace Episcopal Church, where he was a vestry member in 2005 and 2008 to 2020.
Throughout his career, Mr. Kilgore has been recognized for his contributions. The recipient of the President Award from Kiwanis International, he has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, and Who's Who in the World.
