Dr. Martin E. Huld has been recognized as professor emeritus of California State University since 2015.

With more than 30 years of professional experience, Dr. Huld has been recognized as professor emeritus of California State University since 2015. Prior to his retirement, he was a professor in the department of English with the university from 2007 to 2015, associate professor in the department of English from 2004 to 2007, and assistant professor in the department of English from 1998 to 2004. Earlier in his career, he was a lecturer in the department of English from 1983 to 1998, having simultaneously served as an instructor in linguistics at Mount Saint Mary's College from 1991 to 1998.
Alongside his primary career endeavors, Dr. Huld is a current editorial advisory board member of the Journal of Indo-European Studies, having previously served as co-chair of the organizing committee of the Linguistic Association of the Southwest Conference and president of Friends and Alumni of Indo-European Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles. He also acted as a consultant for the Encyclopedia of Indo-European Culture in London, England, and an etymology consultant for the American Heritage Dictionary in Boston, MA.
Dr. Huld began his career as a student at California State University, Los Angeles, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts, with honors and departmental honors, in 1972. He then joined the University of California, Los Angeles, completing a Master of Philosophy in 1978. He continued his studies with the university, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in 1979.
A respected voice in his field, Dr. Huld has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. He is a member of the Linguistic Society of America, the Early English Text Society, and the Linguistic Association of the Southwest. He has also written extensively in his areas of expertise, most recently including "Etymological Dictionaries: Theory of Greek Etymology in Encyclopedia of Ancient Greek Language and Linguistics" in 2013. Previous works have included "The Vocabulary of Indo-European Culture in The Kurgan Culture and the Indo-Europeanization of Europe" in 1997 and "On the Unacceptability of the Indo-European Voiced Stops as Ejectives" in 1986.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Huld has received awards and accolades for his contributions and achievements. He has also been featured in numerous honors publications, including the 57th edition of Who's Who in America.
