HOLLISTON, MA, March 25, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present John Cocchiarella, MD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Cocchiarella celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Cocchiarella was a private practice physician who specialized in pediatrics for 45 years. Established in Milford, MA, in 1970, Milford Pediatrics remained in business until 2015. Dr. Cocchiarella formerly worked as a staff physician for the U.S. Naval Hospital in Newport, RI, between 1968 and 1970 while serving as a lieutenant commander in the military. During his tenure in medicine, he was also an assistant clinical professor of pediatrics at Boston University.
An elected fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Massachusetts Medical Society, Dr. Cocchiarella is also a longtime member of the Middlesex West District Medical Society.
The philosophy that was responsible for guiding Dr. Cocchiarella's career from the very beginning has had everything to do with the enjoyment he received from helping patients. Reflecting back on a very memorable time in his career, he still recalls a particular incident while serving in the U.S. Navy of which he is very proud. Helping a two-year-old patient's family who was greatly burdened by the cost of their child's chemotherapy treatment at Boston Children's Hospital, Dr. Cocchiarella managed to step in and greatly reduce the cost of the child's injections.
Inspired by his father, John Andrew Cocchiarella, an immigrant who struggled for many years to makes ends meet, Dr. Cocchiarella's biggest wish was to make him proud. He remembers his father telling him since he was a young boy how happy he would be if he should go into medicine. Therefore, that is exactly what Dr. Cocchiarella did. Completing a Bachelor of Arts at Clark University in 1960 and Doctor of Medicine at Boston University in 1964, he then interned at Rhode Island Hospital from 1964 to 1965, completed his residency at Boston City Hospital from 1965 to 1967, and completed a research fellowship at the Children's Hospital in Boston from 1967 to 1968. He is notably a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Pediatrics.
Born in Milford, Dr. Cocchiarella later met and married his wife Joan Marie Carey in 1969. He has four children.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, John Cocchiarella, MD, has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
