In light of her accomplishments in the field of mental health, Suzanne Lancaster D'Spain received the Mission Award from Mental Health America.

Having grown up in a dedicated, church-going family, Ms. D'Spain was influenced by her father, who was a minister in the Church of Christ. After receiving a Bachelor of Science from Abilene Christian University in Texas and living overseas, her vision for life expanded and her spirituality deepened as she met fellow spiritual seekers. She has worked in several industries throughout her career, having commenced her profession as a clerical supervisor at the Texas Department of Human Services in 1970. After earning a Master of Education from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Ms. D'Spain served as a psychological assistant at the Jim Taliaferro Community Mental Health Center in Duncan, Oklahoma, from 1988 to 1991 and attained professional credentials of LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor, and LMFT, Licensed Marital and Family Therapist.
From 1991 to 1993, Ms. D'Spain was a therapist in the Christian Family Counseling Center in Lawton, Oklahoma, and served in a private practice for the following six years. Returning to college, she attended the San Francisco Theological Seminary in San Anselmo, California, where she obtained a Master of Divinity in 2003. As such, she has been an ordained Presbyterian minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) since 2003. In addition to her religious endeavors, Ms. D'Spain has also served as a property manager for Presbyterian Towers Apartments in Pueblo since 2016.
Civically involved as well, Ms. D'Spain has volunteered as a Bible classroom teacher for children and adults and participated in Meals on Wheels and the Girl Scouts of the United States of America. She has also served as a children's camp music teacher and taught in the children's day school church program. A member of the Pueblo Law Enforcement Chaplain Corps, Ms. D'Spain was newsletter chair and secretary of the Board for Duncan Little Theater. She also served as secretary and president of the Stephens County Mental Health Association.
In an effort to remain abreast of developments in the industry, Ms. D'Spain maintained affiliation with the Oklahoma Association for Multicultural Counseling and Development, the American Association of Christian Counselors, Chi Sigma Iota and Kiwanis International. Spending her spare time acting in the theater, she received the Acting Excellence Award from the Oklahoma Community Theatre Association. In addition, in light of her accomplishments in the field of mental health, Ms. D'Spain received the Mission Award from Mental Health America.
